The range includes exotic species like the swamp cypress or hickory nut, as well as rare beauties like the yellow pavie or the cut-leaved silver maple. The Johannapark was designed according to plans by Peter Joseph Lenné at the request of the merchant Wilhelm Seyfferth. As was typical of Lenné, many exotic tree species were planted, giving the park the character of a botanical garden in many places. The Johannapark represents an exemplary garden design in the 19th century and also tells stories of love, tragedy, and passion.
