We will show you the impressive building that was constructed in 1895 for the Imperial Court. You will see fascinating architecture and art objects, gain insight into Saxony's and Germany's judicial history, and hear about significant and exciting trials. Even from a distance, the imposing building on the edge of Leipzig's old town stands out. Architecturally, it strongly resembles the Berlin Reichstag. We invite you on an entertaining and exciting tour through the former Imperial Court, which was established in 1879 as the highest court of the German Empire. Everywhere you find many references to the city's and region's judicial tradition, decorative art by prominent artists, and opulent interior spaces. We will speak of significant trials, such as the self-defense of Karl Liebknecht or the Reichstag fire trial. As a highlight, we will show you the grand courtroom and the residence of the President of the Imperial Court.
