We show you the imposing building that was constructed in 1895 for the Imperial Court. You will see exciting architecture and art objects, gain insight into Saxon and German legal history, and hear about significant and thrilling trials. Even from afar, the imposing building on the edge of Leipzig's old town catches the eye. Architecturally, it strongly resembles the Berlin Reichstag. We take you on a delightful and engaging tour of the former Imperial Court, which was established in 1879 as the highest court of the German Empire. Everywhere you find many references to the city's and region's judicial tradition, ornamental decorations by significant artists, and a sumptuous array of interiors. We tell stories of important trials, such as Karl Liebknecht's self-defense or the Reichstag fire trial. As a highlight, we show you the grand courtroom and the residence of the President of the Imperial Court.
