Flat roofs, box shapes, and the winter gardens and green spaces are typical elements of the Kroch settlement. The residential city on Landsberger Straße aimed to combine modern construction and residential culture and was designed in the style of New Building. The main shareholder of the real estate company was the Kroch Bank, which jointly announced a competition in 1928 for the construction of a "Residential City Neu-Gohlis." Kroch, for whom the Kroch High-Rise was built in the same year, also had a significant influence on the design of the housing estate. Flat roofs, box shapes, and the winter gardens and green spaces are typical elements of the Bauhaus era, which were also implemented in the Kroch settlement. The residential city on Landsberger Straße aimed to combine modern construction and residential culture and was planned in the style of New Building by the Berlin architects Paul Mebes and Paul Emmerich. Our tour will present the planning, architecture, and furnishings of the houses and apartments. The entire settlement is listed as a historic monument.
