Our holiday apartments are located on the edge of the Zwickauer Mulde valley. The immediate surroundings have a rural character.
Oertelshain is a district of Remse and is situated in a quiet location at the edge of the Zwickauer Muldental. Our little village, with its 6 farms, is one of the smallest settlements in Germany. The population currently stands at 21. It was first mentioned in 1390 as Etzelshain in the document of Veit I. It was called Adelshain in 1543 in the purchase deed of the Schönburgers regarding the monastery estate. Oertelshain remained independent until 1937 and was then incorporated into Remse. Our community also includes: Kertzsch, Kleinchursdorf, and Weidensdorf. Our farm was built between 1819 and 1822. We bought it in the 1980s and have lived in this idyllic place since May 1989. Only 2 buildings remain from the original four-sided farm. Many historical details have been preserved, such as the inscription on the former stable building, but unfortunately, some modern changes have also taken their toll. We do not operate typical agriculture, but there are animals to pet, hay is made twice a year, there is almost always something to harvest in the garden, and fish can be observed in the natural pond.
