For over 250 years, not only poets and thinkers have praised the view from the Brand near Hohnstein, the "balcony of the Saxon Switzerland," as a unique experience: The gaze sweeps over the table mountains to the Erzgebirge and far into the Czech Republic.
Since the reopening of the inn in 2006 under the name "Brand-Baude," the centuries-old tradition of this place has been revived. The Brand lies in the core zone of the national park and can be comfortably reached on foot by older people via the 867 Brand steps from Tiefen Grund, from Schulzengrund through Poland's valley, or from Hohnstein through an old beech forest along Brandstraße.
For overnight guests, it is also possible to drive to Brand. A transit permit is required for this.
