Imbiss in der Erlebnisköhlerei an der Talsperre Sosa

At a glance

The former quarry for the dam wall of the Sosa reservoir (built between 1949 and 1952) is a cozy place to stop for refreshments, to linger and to experience the charcoal burner's trade.

The snack bar at the Sosa dam is the starting point for your hiking or cycling tour around the Sosa dam (approx. 6 km), including a crossing of the dam wall, which is the last quarry stone wall built in Germany. After enjoying a snack in the charcoal burning experience, you can learn about the ancient craft of charcoal burning and other traditional trades in the region, such as blacksmithing, bookbinding, shoemaking, wheelwrighting and carpentry in the craftsmen's barn. The cutaway model of the earth pile, a steel bell, the children's pile area and the information center round off the charcoal burning experience.
