Our restaurant is located in the former school building of Mödlareuth, which the children from both districts, Bavaria and Thuringia, attended together up to the 8th grade. This building was built in 1864 and served as an elementary school until 1946. Between 1952 and 1990, this building housed the cultural hall and a sales outlet of the "HO". After the reunification of Germany, this building was temporarily used as an exhibition space by the "German-German Museum Mödlareuth". Since 2002, the restaurant "Zum Grenzgänger" has been located here, which has its origins in a snack bar that has been operating next to this building since 2000.
