The history of the Grundmühle dates back to the 16th century.
In 1872, the tenant at the time, Friedrich August Schneider, applied for a license to serve wine and coffee. Small cold dishes were also to be served.
From 1927, the mill was leased to the head miller of the "Saxonia-Mühle" Dresden, Richard Kränkel, on condition that fresh milk was available for consumption at all times. The mill closed its doors in 1964.
Since December 1992, the Grundmühle has been run under its current name by the Schenkel family.
