At the end of January 2026, Yadegar Asisi will celebrate a new world premiere at Panometer Leipzig with ANTARKTIS. The monumental 360° panorama shows the icy expanse of the white continent in all its facets - from huge glaciers and shimmering icebergs to the fascinating animal world with penguins, whales and seals. An artistic production that brings the untouched beauty and fragility of this unique natural environment to life in an impressive way.

With ANTARKTIS, Yadegar Asisi dedicates himself to one of the last untouched landscapes on earth. The monumental 360° panorama, which opens in the Panometer Leipzig on January 24, 2026, provides an insight into the fascinating world of eternal ice - a region of monumental silence, impressive natural power and unique beauty.

Following the successes of AMAZONIA, GREAT BARRIER REEF and EVEREST, Asisi is continuing his
series of nature panoramas. ANTARKTIS takes visitors into the heart of the seemingly
seemingly hostile ice desert, where glaciers, ice shelves and mighty tabular icebergs
stretch out in a reduced, almost surreal color palette. The depiction plays with the waterline as a central perspective - enormous ice formations rise up above the surface, while the hidden life of the Antarctic becomes visible under water. The 32-metre-high panoramic view can be experienced from a platform that appears to be on the water in front of the Antarctic ice sheet - a view of a world that is otherwise reserved for only a few researchers.

A nature experience on an extraordinary scale
Despite the extreme conditions, a fascinating ecosystem pulsates in the icy waters: swarms of krill form the basis of a fragile food web that connects penguins, whales, sea lions and numerous seabirds. In ANTARKTIS, Asisi condenses this impressive scenery into an artistic homage to one of the last largely untouched regions on earth.

To accompany the panorama, the Panometer Leipzig offers an exhibition that not only focuses on the geology, climate and research history of Antarctica, but also documents Yadegar Asisi's personal approach to this unique natural environment. Insights into his expeditions and artistic research show how he has explored Antarctica from the perspective of a painter and storyteller. As early as 2016, Asisi traveled to the region to experience the light, the structures of the ice and the atmosphere on site. In addition, he studied the northern lights in northern Norway, which flow into the panorama as an element. The result is a condensed composition that goes far beyond a documentary image and enables a new perception of this extreme natural environment.

Whether nature enthusiasts, art lovers or families with children - ANTARKTIS invites
to discover the fascination of the last untouched wilderness on our planet from a unique
perspective.
