Original mining in the Ore Mountains - this is how the Freiberg Christmas market presents itself every year from the Tuesday before the 1st Advent until December 22. Freiberg's medieval old town is illuminated and one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany is set against the backdrop of the historic Obermarkt. It invites you to experience mining traditions, browse for wooden art from the Ore Mountains and enjoy the Advent season in a relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

Around 90 lovingly decorated wooden huts are decorated in a mining style and their offerings are closely linked to the history of the silver town. For example, the "smelter", who melted the ore into silver, now serves delicious Erzgebirge mulled wine. The mining pyramid, the Stollen Festival on the 1st Advent, the torchlight mining parade followed by a mountain sermon (always on the Saturday before the second Advent), the Miner's Festival with a small mining procession on the 3rd Advent, the "Little Miner's Workshop", the "Miner's Festival" and the "Miner's Festival". Advent, the "Little Mine Workshop" for children to do handicrafts and the ringing in of the Freiberg Christmas peace bring the mining adventure to life at the Freiberg Christmas market.

Over 250 stores invite you to take a leisurely Christmas shopping spree in the festively illuminated streets of the Old Town. Sundays open for business on the 1st and 3rd Advent.

The ice rink at Freudenstein Castle, Christmas exhibitions, Bach oratorio in the cathedral. St. Marien, festive concerts and romantic lantern walks round off the Silver City Advent.
