Christmas traditions as far as the eye can see can be found at the Christmas market in Chemnitz. The twelve-metre high five-storey Christmas pyramid, a five-metre high candle arch, a likewise oversized music box and other traditional Erzgebirge figures such as nutcracker, miner and angel stand for the typical handicrafts of the region. At around 200 wooden huts around the town hall you can buy Christmas treats, tree decorations and above all traditional Erzgebirge folk art. At the adjacent medieval market, historically dressed craftsmen demonstrate old handicraft techniques.
