After a nostalgic, steamy ride on the Weißeritz Valley Railway from Freital via the romantic Rabenauer Grund, you will reach the large district town of Dippoldiswalde, the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our hike takes you from the train station to the rural village of Reichstädt, one of the longest villages in Saxony. The village runs along the valley of the Reichstädter Bach stream and offers many artisanal and historical features to the left and right. Route length approx. 9 km, duration approx. 4 hours

The hike leads from the train station along the path marked with a yellow horizontal line in the direction of Reichstädt/Pretzschendorf. After a short stretch of road, the signpost points to the left. On this so-called Kalkofenweg, we reach rural Reichstädt, one of the longest villages in Saxony. We continue to follow the yellow markings and pass the Drutschmann sheep farm and spinning room with its farm store, the workshop of potter Grit Bormann and Reichstädt Castle with its park. After a short stretch on Beerwalder Straße, the trail leaves the previous markings and follows the signpost towards Berreuth. After a few meters you reach Ruppendorfer Straße, which the trail follows for 100 m to the left. At the Berreuth signpost, a farm track on the right leads to the Schafberg, which offers good views. Continue in the direction of Berreuth until you reach the edge of the forest. The path turns right there, then right again at the end of the forest and then straight on until you reach the village of Berreuth. Turn right here for a few meters and then left in front of the kindergarten, over the Reichstädter Bach stream and up to the road. After a short stretch on the road, a path branches off to the left in the steep right-hand bend. Immediately on the right is a bench with a beautiful view of Dippoldiswalde. The starting point of the hike is reached again via a meadow path downhill.
