The circular route presents the 800-year history of the village Kürbitz as well as geological and landscape-related interesting information.

According to legend, the Kürbitz estate owner Jobst von Feilitzsch slew a lindworm that prowled the forests around Kürbitz and threatened the farmers. The fateful encounter between the dragon and the knight freed Kürbitz from the reign of terror but ended fatally for both. In honor of their rescuer, the villagers erected a particularly ornate gravestone for Knight Feilitzsch, whose relief depicts the hero with sword and armor, and at his feet the slain monster. This gravestone can still be seen today in the Salvator Church. And the legend remains a living part of the village’s culture. Those who want to trace it can set out on the nearly six-kilometer-long Kürbitz Lindworm Trail in search of clues.
