Freital, Bergmannsweg stop (line F)
Rabenau station
Take the city bus line F in Freital (e.g. get off at the Deuben bus station) in the direction of Dobritz/Kreischa and get off at the Bergmannsweg stop. Walk in the direction of Possendorf as far as the end of the village. Shortly afterwards, the hiking trail to Rabenau turns off to the right. After approx. 50 m, continue straight ahead. The hiking trail through the "Poisenwald" nature reserve takes you through an unspoilt forest. After approx. 1 km, turn right onto a wide hiking trail and you will see the first rest area, the "Stone Table". It was once a resting place for electoral Saxon hunting parties. Every year on the 1st weekend in June, a choir sing takes place there. From now on, follow the "yellow dot" markings until you reach the road between Possendorf and Obernaundorf. Keep right there and follow the main road for a short distance until the Marktsteig (red dot) branches off to the left. You now walk along this high path to Rabenau. The parish lime tree on the outskirts of the town invites you to linger. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the Osterzgebirge mountains, the Landberg, the Lerchenberg (adjoining mountain restaurant) and the Windberg. After reaching the city limits, continue straight ahead. Past the water tower and school, the route now continues steadily downhill. For flower lovers, a visit to the "Blütenbilder" studio (Obernaundorfer Straße - by appointment on 0351 4601222) is recommended. Artist Angela Straßberger conjures up true works of art from a wide variety of petals. The route continues along Kirchgasse, then turns right onto Quergasse to Freitaler Straße. Don't miss a detour to the Stuhlbaumuseum with its adjoining museum café. The post mile column erected on the market square in 2013 was modeled on the Kursächsische Postmeilensäule from 1730. You cross the road towards Weststraße (half left) where the "footpath to the station" is already shown at the residential building. Walk downhill to the small staircase and then continue to Rabenau railroad station (always red dot). The restaurants "Zum Wanderer" and "Rabenauer Mühle" invite you to take a break right next to the station. From there, the Weißeritztalbahn takes you to Freital-Hainsberg, where you can return to the starting point of the tour by bus or train.
