The electoral chancellery Torgau presents exhibitions on highlights of urban history and permanently changing special exhibitions.
In addition to the permanent exhibition with respect to city´s history in the electoral chancellery – i.e. a noble renaissance building – the “Torgauer Museumspfad“ leads the visitors to five other worth seeing buildings. The “Katharina Luther Stube“ depicts the life of Katharina von Bora in that building that became her sick bed and last resistance in 1522. The brewing museum conveys impressions of the Torgau brewing tradition back in the 15th and 16th century. The “Bürgermeister Ringenhain- Haus“ and the artisan cottage provide an eventful insight into the daily life of the communal families back in the 16th and 17th century. The castle Hartenfels, which is situated above the roof tops of Torgau allows for a stunning 360 degree view on the city and its history owing to its home maker tower and the lapidarium with its contemporary witnesses made of stone.
