At a glance

Watches are made with superior craftsmanship since 1878 in Glashütte.

Watches are made with superior craftsmanship since 1878 in Glashütte. The manufacture Glashütte Original belongs to a tradition that combines technical perfection with chosen materials and most modern manufacturing methods. As developer and manufacturer of their own clockworks, Glashütte Original may use the title of "Manufacture". This demand is widespread throughout the company: Still, many crucial work steps are carried out by hand - "per manum".

The German Watch Museum Glashütte in the heart of the city is the ideal building at the perfect place. The extravagantly restored building once hosted the German Watchmaker's School founded in 1878. The relaunch in 2008 consciously follows this tradition: Additionally to the two museum floors, the building also hosts the renowned watchmakers' school "Alfred Helwig" of Glashütte Original. More than 400 exhibits illustrate the history of the art of watchmaking in Glashütte. Many of the exhibits are unique in the world, among them pocket watches, wrist watches and pendulum clocks from different epochs, navy chronometers and escapement models.
