Current rules and regulations for the state of Saxony

Saxony is open for touristic travel again. However, there are some Corona regulations that need to be observed. We have listed them below, together with useful links. Full of anticipation we say: See you soon!


Current information

The Saxon State government has issued the so-called “2 G plus” regulation and a regulation for people who have received the third vaccination (booster) for Saxony. It has become effective as from 14th of January 2022 until further notice. As per this regulation, only persons with proof of vaccination or recovery (2 G) plus a negative Antigen test and persons who have received the booster vaccination have access to the following areas:

  • indoor gastronomy, indoor events and festivities

  • any type of accommodation upon arrival

  • theatres, opera houses, concert venues, cinemas

  • interior of clubs, bars, discotheques and any kind of major event

  • touristic bus tours

  • For museums, memorials, castles etc. the so-called "2 G" regulation applies.

  • It is mandatory to have the relevant proofs with you to be able to show them on demand.

In addition, the following permanently applies:

  • Mandatory use of FFP-2 face masks in public areas and buildings, shops and supermarkets and on all means of public transport

  • Contact registration

  • The adherence to physical distancing (1.5m) and the resulting capacity restrictions

  • Exception regulations apply to children and youths, and to people that cannot be vaccinated.

Please do also check the websites of the sights and attractions you are interested in as well as your chosen accommodation to see what is currently possible and what kind of requirements apply. Many attractions also work with advance online bookings and/or time slots for the visit.
