Weltenwanderer Contemporary Art from the Hoffmann Collection

At a glance

Under the title “Weltenwanderer”, around 80 works are shown in two special exhibitions, in the Görlitzer Collections and the Municipal Museums in Zittau.

According to their understanding of a collection without a fixed exhibition venue, the Hoffmann Collection will be hosted in Görlitz and Zittau at the same time in spring 2022. Under the title “Weltenwanderer”, two extensive special exhibitions, conceived in cooperation with the Görlitzer Collections and the Municipal Museums Zittau, show a total of around 80 works from the diverse collection. While the selection in Zittau focuses on the human being and his image and repeatedly creates dialogical situations with the encyclopaedic collections and historical architecture, Görlitz focuses on artists whose biographies have been shaped by migration experiences between East and West. Among them are well-known names such as Sigmar Polke, Marina Abramović, Gerhard Richter and Andy Warhol. In addition, well-known artists from Russia, Poland and Albania are shown, among them Olga Cernysheva, Natalia LL and Teresa Murak, who are mostly still little known here, so that an East-West dialogue can develop in the show.
