Upper Lusatia Chamber Music Festival

Saxony’s Upper Lusatia, with its picturesque landscape in the border triangle of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, has a turbulent, centuries-old history. The Upper Lusatian Chamber Music Festival, founded in 2020, plays the “pearls of Upper Lusatia” – castles and churches – and thus contributes to the preservation of these identity-building, cultural lighthouses. More than 100 volunteers and 40 renowned ambassadors, among them the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer, support the festival, which in 2021 presented classical chamber music in 7 castles and churches throughout the Upper Lusatian-Lower Silesian cultural region with 7 concerts and more than 30 artists.

Artistic Director Dr. Hagen W. Lippe-Weissenfeld, whose family has been living in Saxony for around 300 years, is particularly important to involve Saxon musicians. The KAMMERMUSIKFEST OBERLAUSITZ cooperates musically with the International Chamber Music Festival Krzyzowa-Music (Kreisau/Poland), the Coming and Going – Six Cities Federation Festival, the Saxon Music Council, the Sorbian National Ensemble and the Carl Bechstein Foundation.

Particularly important to the organizer is the promotion of young musicians, which will find expression in the KAMMERMUSIK-AKADEMIE, which will take place for the first time in 2022.
