The sleeping Beauty - Aaron S. Watkin

At a glance

Ballet in one prologue and two acts

“Sleeping Beauty” to the music of Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky was premiered in 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and is still considered one of the most demanding classical ballets. Based on the legendary choreography of Marius Petipa, ballet director Aaron S. Watkin re-created the famous fairy tale in 2007 and poetically and expressively portrays the development of Princess Aurora from a child to a young woman: from her baptism in the circle of the fairies who offer her good wishes, to the curse of the evil fairy Carabosse, to her 100-year sleep, to her happy reawakening with the redeeming kiss of the Prince. extraordinary vitality combine in “Sleeping Beauty” to form a fairytale unity.
