The life and work of Father August of Saxony.

In 1572 the construction of Augustusburg Castle, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, was completed in Saxony. On the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the castle in 2022, the monumental hunting and pleasure palace, the “crown of the Ore Mountains”, will be the setting for a large-scale exhibition from April 2022 to January 2023: With “Elector with Foresight” you will experience a journey back in time into the Renaissance!
This impressive multimedia exhibition presents the life and work of Elector August of Saxony (1526 -1586) – a ruler who developed Saxony into a model country of economic and cultural prosperity. 13 themed rooms and valuable exhibits on Saxon’s national and cultural history illuminate the most diverse facets of his work and his time on 700 square metres.
The absolute highlight of the show is the 360-degree multimedia show in the hall of the summer house of Augustusburg Castle, where you suddenly find yourself at a 16th-century Elector’s feast and feel yourself part of the hunting party, the bustle in the castle kitchen and the Elector’s feast.

Last admission: 5 p. m.
