Exhibition in cooperation with Landkreis-Gymnasium St. Annen starting February 10

In cooperation with the students of grade 11 of the Landkreis-Gymnasium St. Annen in Annaberg-Buchholz, the new special exhibition "Refresh" - Modern Adaptations of Historical Landscape Graphics will be open to all visitors at the Erzgebirgsmuseum from February 10, 2023.

Until May 21, graphic and color graphic designs as well as mixed media on the theme of "landscape" by the student body will be shown in an exciting juxtaposition with rarely shown historical graphics from the rich collection of the Annaberg-Buchholz Municipal Museums.

The Ore Mountains are characterized by a multilayered and diverse (cultural) landscape, which is the subject of numerous works in painting and graphics. Examples from different centuries of this can also be found in the collection of the municipal museums. In addition to their artistic value, they also have a historical and folkloristic source value.

As part of the cooperation project with the district high school, modern adaptations of some old landscape graphics have now been created. The aim here is to keep the collection of the Annaberg-Buchholz Municipal Museums as the cultural as well as artistic heritage of a region in mind, to preserve it for future generations, to research it, to make it accessible and to position it. The importance of the collection holdings as historical testimonies of the Erzgebirge history and the Erzgebirge character in its development is to be conveyed in an age-appropriate and lively way. Only in this way can the collection of the municipal museums be further developed in a social mission.
