Finally a wave for Leipzig’s waters again – the Leipzig Water Festival returns.
For two years, thousands of fans had to wait for the humid and cheerful spectacle on Leipzig’s waters – now the Leipzig Water Festival is returning from 19 to 21 August 2022 to proven locations, but also to new shores. Leipzigers and their guests can look forward to three days of interaction and information, fun and entertainment, around and on Leipzig’s waters between the city harbour and Lindenau harbour, the Elster Floodbed and the Karl-Heine Canal. The main anchorage is again the Clara Zetkin Park around the Sachsenbrücke with its fishing village and street art festival, duck races and water fireworks. Big and small buccaneers get their money’s worth on Pirate Island in the district park, which has become a popular anchorage for families in the past two years. In between, numerous “pearls on the water” invite you to explore on your own boat or waterproof shuttle. But new activities will also enrich the festival in the future.
“We used the coronal break to try out new and innovative things in smaller formats”, says the president of the association, Dr. Sabine Heymann of the organizing “WASSER-STADT-LEIPZIG e. V. . ” “Sustainable new elements have also emerged, such as the communication platform wasserleben-leipzig. de or our WASSERKISTE, made from a recycled industrial container – an interactive information module. We will also take up ideas like the WASSERLEBEN LEIPZIG-EXPEDITION again and present them to a wider audience this time. ”
