In January 2024, the best lugers will compete at the FIL Luge World Championships at the SachsenEnergie-Eiskanal Altenberg. The town in the Eastern Ore Mountains will host the 52nd FIL Luge World Championships from 22 to 28 January 2024. Before that, there will be an international training week from 15 to 20 January 2024. Since 1991, eight World Championships (1991 Bobsleigh, 1996 Luge, 1998 Skeleton, 2000 Bobsleigh, 2008 Bobsleigh & Skeleton, 2012 Luge, 2020 Bobsleigh & Skeleton, 2021 Bobsleigh & Skeleton) and two Junior World Championships (2015 Bobsleigh & Skeleton, 2018 Luge) have taken place at the luge and bobsleigh track in Altenberg, one of the most challenging ice tracks in the world.
