Exhibition "Life paths Artists between the systems"

The exhibition focuses on artistic lives, their continuities, ruptures and contradictions from the Weimar Republic and the Nazi era to the beginnings of the Federal Republic and the GDR. The starting point will be representatives of New Objectivity from the museum's own collection with works by Rudolf Bergander, Otto Dix, Lea Grundig, Wilhelm Rudolph, Gustav Schaffer and Martha Schrag. Under National Socialism, their living and working conditions changed radically, albeit in completely different ways. Some adapted, others had to flee into exile. After the end of the war, they searched for artistic points of contact. For the first time, the show is dedicated to these lives from a cross-system perspective.
