Dresden Spring at the Palais 2026

At a glance

The Dresden Spring in the Palace is the most important indoor spring flower exhibition in Germany and, after a three-year break, can be experienced on two floors of the Palais im Großen Garten Dresden from February 27 to March 8, 2026.

Under the motto "Oh world of flowers - what a wonder!", gardeners, florists and artists will create a sensual festival of colors, shapes and scents with around 40,000 plants and flowers in this jewel of early baroque architecture. Native spring flowers, blossoming shrubs, horticultural rarities and artistic floristry are arranged in the baroque halls of the palace under the artistic direction of Bea Berthold, a graphic designer from Thuringia.

Horticultural masterpiece in the middle of winter

Dresden Spring at the Palais is an unusual challenge for the companies involved. The exhibition requires more than a year's lead time. Around 450 species and varieties, including 160 bulbous and tuberous plants, are grown in advance to ensure that they bloom at the right time. This requires skill and experience. Around 20 Saxon nurseries are involved in the implementation. In addition, the students of the Dresden Fleurametz Academy, led by master florist Anja Schneider, create elaborate flower arrangements.

Continuing a Saxon tradition

The organizers are continuing a great tradition with this show: The opulent flower, plant and fruit shows in the Palais im Großen Garten were world-famous in the 19th century. They established the reputation of the city on the Elbe as a European center of garden art. Even then, plants were arranged in pictures and floristic works were presented at the International Horticultural Exhibitions. In 2006, on the occasion of Dresden's 800th anniversary, the "Dresdner Frühling im Palais" was organized for the first time in its current form.

The "Dresdner Frühling im Palais" is open for ten days only, from 9 am to 8 pm, last admission is 7 pm. For the first time, limited time slot tickets will be available.
