Embedded in a mostly snow-covered historic city centre, traditions and customs become alive on the Christmas market in Annaberg-Buchholz.
Pushing the market pyramid on the opening day, night watchman tours to Christmas surprises, special Christmas exhibitions, the miners' nativity scene and the Great Mountain Parade with 1,200 traditional costume wearers and 300 mountain musicians on the 4th Sunday in Advent are just as traditional.
In the miniature educational workshops, visitors of all ages can gain an insight into well-known buildings from Annaberg-Buchholz and the region. Looking through their windows, they can peek into the training workshops of Santa's hard-working helpers.
The Christmas market is complemented by the so-called "Christmas Worlds", the Manufactory of Dreams, the miners' nativity scene in St. Mary's Church, the Erzhammer Christmas House and Advent concerts and Mettenspiele in St. Anne's Church.
