12th Saxon Hiking Day in Grimma

At a glance

50 Hikes for the Saxon Hiking Day

Grimma is the venue for the 12th Saxon Hiking Day from 16 to 18 June 2023. The programme includes 50 guided and individual tours between 2.5 and 73 kilometres through the Mulde Valley and the Leipzig region. Each of the 39 guided walks focuses on a particular theme or addresses a specific target group. The trails lead to mills, sunrises, forests and cute villages. There are walks for families with small children, for pilgrims and for those interested in history. In addition, six tours are designed to be outside of a timetable and with only a description. These include a treasure hunt through the Village of the Senses, a tablet rally or the tricky puzzle tour "Crack the City".

Fans of extensive hikes will find their passion in the 73-kilometre long-distance format  "Sparkassen HikeDeluxe". The tour can be mastered personally at your own pace and outside a group, as there is signposting designated only for the HikeDeluxe. But it can also be shorter. Seven stages between 16 and 60 kilometres are also available. The best thing about it: public transport and refreshment stops are included. The tours can be booked via the portal sparkassen-hikedeluxe.de .

The hub of the hiking day is the bank of the Mulde near the monastery church. On Friday, there will be a primary school hike, guided tours of the town and a specialist hiking forum. The Hiking Day in Grimma combines numerous highlights. The Open Garden Day is just as much a part as the celebrations of "100 Years of Mulde Navigation". The museums show exhibitions about the painting wanderer Walter Artus, the wandering legend Johann Gottfried Seume or the founder of the metropolitan wandering movement Dr. Curt Grottewitz.
